Vidhushi Sukanya Speaks about her Experiment
Dear Music Patrons all over the world , Music Lovers and Friends , Let me heartily Welcome you to the unique website in the world of Music. Uttaradhi and Dakshinadhi are the Two systems that are prevalent in Indian Music. in westeren Music , there are different styles like , western Classic, Rock , Jazz , Pop and so on. The internationally known vocalist , an authority on Karnataka Music - Dr.Balamuralikrishna opines that "Karnataka Music is the base for all forms of Music in the world". He also feels that , "If one become an expert in the 72 Melakartha Ragas , then one can easily digest any form of world Music". The 72 Melakartha Ragas were created by Pandit VenkataMukhi who was the Asthana Vidwan in the reign of King Vijayaraghava of Tanjavur in the 16 th century. A view of literature clearly indicates that in Dakshinadhi on about 15 to 20 Ragas , in Uttaradhi only about 10 thats ( Ragas ) and in western Music only 3 scales are being used, since then till date. More over , history of music does not give evidence of any legendary female composers. These two issues have bothered me since my student days and they became the main source of inspiration for me in using all the 72 Melakartha Ragas, while rendering or composing Music. I strongly feel that the experimentation of using all the 72 Ragas is important for realizing Saraswathi the Goddess of Music and for the development of Music and its comleteness , just as a heart rate and pulse rate of 72 are important for the well being of human.
I have already brought out many CD's in which I have composed and rendered Bhavageetha ( Light Music ) , Dasarapada , Vachana and the different forms of Mahakavya's and English poems by using 72 Ragas. Hundred of Artistes and Students of Music have appreciated and accepted my efforts
